BHP Billiton commissioned Blackbox to design and install a fourteen metre exhibition, in the foyer of their Perth office.

BRIEF

BHP Billiton commissioned Blackbox to design and install an exhibition design in the foyer of their Perth office for the launch of their Integrated Remote Operations Centre (IROC). Presenting a graphic design challenge, the display needed visual impact and clarity, while still working within the overarching corporate brand guidelines. The design was required to communicate to key stakeholders the processes and technology now in place to remotely operate the fleet of trucks and trains in the Pilbara.

SOLUTION

The result was a 14 metre, fully flexible exhibition design incorporating three LCD panels, a simulated operating terminal and 33 square metres of digitally printed material. The graphic design incorporated key colour themes inspired by the Pilbara, custom illustrations and photographs of mining infrastructure presented in a clear and informative way. In addition a printed monthly newsletter was designed and mailed to staff throughout the state, keeping them informed of the IROC project and their planned relocation back to Perth. The display can be easily re-skinned or divided into smaller, stand alone display panels for future use.
